People are still debating whether same sex education is better than co-education. Same sex education gives children more opportunities to focus on their studies rather on how to impress the opposite gender. It brings out the leader in each child. On the other hands, children are taken from opportunities to connect with the opposite sex and lack in teaching how to socialize in the outside world. Comparing these two essays it seems that girls do better academically when the environment is more calm and relaxed.

There are advantages and disadvantages when it comes to enrolling your children in single sex schools, but more so advantages. Students get to become better leaders and work to the fullest of their abilities without distractions. According to the article “the all-girls environment gives them the opportunity to mature, to become leaders, to discover who they really are without the distractions of boys (Boesueld,2012, pg72). Brains of males and females develop differently and by separating boys and girls teachers are able to meet the children’s developmental pace. Some parents don’t want their children to be in mixed-gender classrooms because, especially at certain ages, students of the opposite sex can be a distraction. single-sex education can broaden the educational prospects for both girls and boys.

The article indicated that “boys just tune out” (Boesueld,2012, pg73). Indicating boys most of the time lose their focus in class and are distracted very easily. In same gender schooling, boys are more focused on their studies and not feeling pressurized to achieve over the opposite sex. In same sex schools boys are more relaxed in their atmosphere. “It’s the last attempt in the public system to create separate learning environment where boys don’t have to sit still and raise their hands, where they are encouraged to be competitive (Boesueld, 2012, pg60).

As research states boys are less focused and can get distracted easily, but when given the opportunity to go to the same sex schools they are more focused on competing with one another. In single sex schools, students don’t have to worry about sexual attraction of the opposite sex. This enables the students to concentrate more in their studies and less on socialization. “When boys and girls were mixed the following year almost every one’s mark dropped” (Boesueld, 2012, pg72). Test scores are a good way to look at single sex schools being a good way for children to succeed

When children are in a single-sex class they go over more for they do not have the distraction some children have in a co-ed class. Another reason single-sex schooling is a good idea is more children are going to have more study time to get more work done, this means not many children will have homework. Children in a single sex school will also be far from a lot of drama that might happen such as a girl wanting the same boy this will cause drama not only with one girl, boys tend to show off while a girl he likes is in the same class.

There is a lot of distraction especially around the age of 13 to 14 when children are just hitting puberty. Remembering children who are focused in their studies earl on will have a better chance in succeeding in life, rather than students who tend to get attached to their studies later on in life (they will still succeed but maybe not to the extent they could have). In conclusion, children are very unique and are able to adjust to any atmosphere, same sex schooling gives kids an opportunity to be more focused and achieve their goals.

Understanding the fact sstudents in single-sex classrooms will one day live and work side-by-side with members of the opposite sex. Educating students in single-sex schools limits their opportunity to work cooperatively and co-exist successfully with members of the opposite sex. But one only goes to school for a certain amount of time, children still get enough exposure to opposite genders. Same sex schooling brings out the leader in each child.
